Our rooms are stocked with everything you need for music lessons, including amps, stereos, full electronic drum kits with snares, keyboards, pianos and more. All you need to bring is your instrument. We have spent thousands of dollars on our studio to offer soundproofing and large observation windows. Technology is also a big part of lessons at the Happy Valley Arts Academy and we have installed LED monitors in every classroom at the school. The monitors have cables that can attach to iPods, iPads, or laptops. This allows students to have a modern and engaging lesson using music teaching apps, music software, Skype, and more. Feel free to “Bring Your Own Device” to your lesson in addition to your instrument! No other school in Portland offers this technology. 7. Free music recitals every 6 months in a local convenient location!
Every parent just wants to know how their child is doing and if they are really progressing. The best way for a parent to understand if their investment in lessons is really worth it, is to have their child participate in a recital. In June and December many of our students choose to perform in our biannual recitals. For our students these recitals are free and unlike many schools in Portland we do not charge recital participation or admission fees. 8. Professional office staff to serve you.

We are the only music school in Portland that gives their students the opportunity to earn special color wristband bracelets (kids and teens love them!), trophies and certificates for passing musical tests. Do other schools offer trophies and certificates? A few. But none of them inspire their students with smiling faces by giving them full color, really cool “Musical Ladder” wristbands that they can show off to their friends. Since we are the largest music school in Happy Valley, we are able to be a ‘full service’ music school. The Rock Dojo is an award-winning guitar program based in Portland, OR. Our after-school programs are designed to teach kids the transferable skills they need to be successful on the guitar or in the classroom. Based on a rewarding belt system, students begin at the white belt level progressing through five stages of skill and achievement. At each stage of their musical education, students master the skills necessary to play, perform, and compose with confidence.

Friends of Tryon Creek is a community supported non-profiting connecting kids to nature since 1970 at Tryon Creek State Natural Area in SW Portland. Tryon Forest Adventures – an active full day outdoor camp experience for ages 7 to 12. Taking place in spring and summer.
