Birthing Stone Doula and Childbirth Services supports moms all across the Portland area. Portland Moms Blog is thrilled to partner with them, and to celebrate our launch, they have a great product giveaway for one of our readers!

Birthing-Stone-Teal-Green-Horiz2First of all, a confession: I used to think a doula was someone who helped moms give birth at home. Since that wasn’t my cup of tea, I never paid much attention to what they actually do. So when I recently learned about Birthing Stone, all I could think of was, “I wish I had known about this when my babies were born!”

Birthing Stone offers birth, postpartum and sibling support doula services in addition to hosting new parent groups, offering educational classes and speaker events. They primarily serve expecting parents and parents with newborns. Their doulas are experienced and trained to work a variety of birthing moms—VBAC, scheduled cesarean, LGBQT, surrogates/intended parents, multiples, over 40, etc.

Their mission is to connect new parents with each other, ideally before the births of their babies. They envision families feeling connected and supported by each other and hope that the parents they serve move into parenthood without feeling isolated or alone. These community-building components are part of their unique village doula model—although they also offer more traditional one-on-one doula relationships.

This week, Birthing Stone is giving away a stylish and functional Onya baby carrier to one of our readers along with a free one-on-one baby wearing consultation – a total estimated value of $220! Enter below and share this giveaway with all your local expectant and new mom friends. Then, be sure to visit Birthing Stone on the web for more information about their variety of services.

Jen
Jen is a Type A introvert who is continually learning {in large part as a result of motherhood} that she can’t control it all and that everything is better with chocolate. After spending most of her life in Minnesota, she made Portland home a couple of years ago along with her New York native husband, Phil, and their lovely littles, Connor (November 2010) and Brielle (April 2013). Jen quickly fell in love with Oregon and, along with her family, is determined to explore all that the Pacific Northwest has to offer. At their current stage of family life, she and her hubby give every adventure a 50/50 shot of succeeding without a child {or parent} meltdown.
