Is it time for you and your family to get some professional photos? If you’re going to make that investment (of money, time, and in memories that will last the rest of your life), you’ll want to know you’re working with a full service professional, which is exactly what I got to do when working with Samantha from Samantha Shannon Photography. My son recently celebrated his first birthday, so we were ready for some family portraits to mark this milestone!

Samantha creates meaningful and delightful portraits for creative, classic, and joyful people!  She loves working with families and finds so much joy photographing weddings as well. A special thing about Samantha is how she works one-on-one with each client to create a session that speaks to them, and then after the session, guides them through the ordering process to create art for their walls and keepsake albums they’ll treasure for years.

Prior to the session, I filled out her Pre-Session Questionnaire so Samantha could get to know my family.  Based on my answers, she made individual suggestions on outfits and locations for the photos.  Of the places that Samantha suggested for us, I chose to have our session at Jenkins Estate, located in Beaverton. Working around our busy work and nap schedules, Samantha was so accommodating!  I really appreciated her being so flexible with our appointment times.  Samantha was sweet as could be and super easy to work with.  She is well focused and keeps right on task, while still making everyone feel great and comfortable.

Samantha Shannon Photography offers high quality, professional prints, canvases, albums, and gift albums.  She also does custom card design and printing with your photos so that your holiday card is DONE!  Wouldn’t it be great to get that off your plate?  Many people have not experienced a full service portrait session before and they are used to just being handed a disk of their photos that then sits in a drawer.  To Samantha, that would make her feel like she hasn’t finished her job!

She wants these photos to be LOVED–up on the wall, something you see every day, and treasure for years!

And it’s so important to her that photos are printed professionally and are really high quality so that they will last.  She takes time and special care to sit down with each client during their ordering session and walk them through the selection process with their budget and needs in mind.

After setting up our ordering appointment, Samantha came over to our house with all the print samples in hand.  It was truly unique to me to have all our proofs edited, printed, and matted.  In the past, I’ve always looked at pictures in a gallery online.  As someone who likes to have visuals, it was wonderful to see all the pictures up close and be able to touch them.  It was also nice to compare similar shots side by side, laying them down in front of me on my kitchen table.  Samantha helped us to pick out appropriate print sizes for the space that we wanted to fill.  She also brought an example of every print size with her, so it was great to have a visual idea of what the actual sizes would be.

All of her large prints are mounted and printed with a linen texture.  This makes the prints more sturdy and helps keep their shape.  Though these prints are much thicker, they will still fit in most standard picture frames.  Being a mom to a 2-year old boy herself, Samantha likes her products to be durable and still look great after being touched by little hands.  All of her canvases are solid throughout, fully backed, and come ready to hang!

My family thoroughly enjoyed the whole process and appreciate the time we got to spend with Samantha.  She took the time to listen and get to know what we really wanted for our photos.  We love how they came out and look forward to receiving our prints. I’m also super excited to actually have our family holiday picture done early this year!  September and October is an ideal time to start thinking about updating your family photos for your holiday card.  Please visit Samantha’s website to start creating a session for your family!
