Open Enrollment 2019: Health Insurance Tips for Working Moms

1

Why do working moms need health insurance? Because we can’t afford to lose one day of work just because we’re sick, and because we are moms! We work hard to sustain our family by not putting all our money into medical bills if we or our children suddenly get sick or injured. As mothers, we want to make sure we are financially capable if a health emergency strikes. All working moms should be well-informed about healthcare and the plans out there.

I want to make sure that my family is healthy, secured, and happy. Moreover, I need to concentrate on my own health to keep my family up and running. Working moms can get the most out of any health plan without the added stress. We just have to know where to get assistance and what our health needs are.

Here are FOUR simple, insider tips for moms about health insurance:

1. Find a trusted and licensed health insurance consultant within your area.

This is one of the health insurance tips that never fails. Your own personal consultant can answer all your questions professionally and accurately. Sure, comparing plans online is helpful, but talking personally with a licensed agent will give you the best, up-to-date information.

2. One you know what you need.

Don’t rely on someone else to tell you what specific coverage you need. You and only you can tell what levels of coverage you need, what your budget is, and what you are likely to want in the future. A good insurance agent/broker is only there to guide and assist you throughout the process, not to sell you something unnecessary.

3. Make sure you get a plan with your chosen health provider.

Each of us moms have our preferred pediatrician, dentist, and other physicians for the entire family. Always remember to check this first. Typically, a good insurance provider will help you confirm their list of in-network physicians, and will allow you to choose your own qualified provider.

4. Take the time to get to know the different health insurance programs available.
