June! Arguably one of the best months of the year! School’s out, the weather has settled into a breezy summer, and Portland comes alive. Here are some of our favorites in and around the City of Roses, all with a family-friendly spin.

Dinolandia

Portlanders are thrilled with the opening of Dinolandia, a walk-through museum for dino enthusiasts of all ages! Spend your summer immersed in a world of over 50 species of dinosaurs, and experienced created by local artist Mike Bennett. General tickets are $5, and free for attendees under 8!

Portland Rose Festival

June 4-26
Various locations (primarily downtown)

The popular Rose Festival is back, after a two-year hiatus! The nearly month-long celebration is jam-packed with parades, special events, and fun opportunities. Whether you want to catch the Dragon Boat races, the Fred Meyer parade, or any of the other family-friendly opportunities in the festival’s calendar, it’s always worth a visit! Stop by the waterfront for some fun carnival games, and celebrate all things Portland with your crew!

Junteenth Oregon Celebration

June 18, 11am
Lillis-Albina Park

Marking its 50th anniversary, Juneteenth Oregon’s celebration starts with a parade, followed by live music, art, food, entertainment, cultural booths, and a kid’s play area. The parade starts at the Safeway on MLK and N Ainsworth, and continues on MLK for its route. 

Portland Pride

June 18, 12pm – 6pm

*Pride Parade begins at 11am on June 19 from the North Park Blocks

Portland Pride is celebrating once again! As the largest event in support of the LGBTQ+ community in the region, Portland Pride brings music, dance, festival, and fun to the Tom McCall Waterfront for a spectacular weekend event! Catch the parade or simply stop by the happenings for a great time in a fun atmosphere. Entry is a suggested $8 donation (nobody gets turned away).

Tigard Festival of Balloons

June 24-26
Parking is at Tigard Swim Center
8680 SW Durham Rd. Tigard, OR 97224

This fundraising event in support of the Tigard community is a local favorite. Enjoy approximately 20 hot air balloons taking flight as the primary attraction, but don’t forget about vendor booth, the carnival fair, and delicious eats.
