February Events for Portland Families

It may still be dark and cold in the Pacific Northwest, but February is still packed with fun events in and around Portland for families. Portland Winter Light FestivalLunar New Year (Feb 1 – 15)

Celebrate the transition to the Year of the Tiger at Lan Su Chinese Garden. Known as the biggest Chinese New Year festival in the Pacific Northwest, the events at Lan Su Chinese Garden offer dances, demonstrations, and family activities, with a mixture of in-person and online options. Lantern viewings are Feb 3-6 only and require a separate ticket.

Portland Winter Light Festival (Feb 4-12)

Make your way through a series of pop-up light installations throughout Portland during this wintery event. Now in its seventh year, the Portland Winter Light Festival is whimsical and magical, and is totally free. Plan your visit using the online map, or make the Illuminated Bike Ride your destination on Feb 4. Whatever your choose, the bright lights will bring warmth during these final days of winter.

It’s Black Storytime! at Multnomah County Library (all month)

Celebrate Black History Month with ongoing online storytime of books, songs, and more. Best for ages 0-6, the series runs through March. Find a day/time that works for you, register online, and connect via Zoom!

Beyond Van Gogh: The Immersive Experience (through February 12)

The incredible art-turned-experience event Beyond Van Gogh continues at the Oregon Convention Center through February 12. Travel through Van Gogh’s life and art via projection technology. See for yourself why everyone is raving about it!

Finders Keepers Float Drops in Lincoln City (all month… and year!)

If you are headed anywhere near Lincoln City, head to the beach to take advantage of two special float drops for Finders Keepers glass floats in February. The first special drop is antique week (Feb 12-21), with 100 Japanese floats. The second is an additional 50 drops planned for Valentine’s Day. If you can’t make it then, no worries! Special drops happen year-round.

Disney and Pixar’s Coco at the Oregon Symphony (Feb 26 + 27)

Who can resist Coco? Now enjoy the feature film with the Oregon symphony at the Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall! With options for an evening (Saturday) or daytime (Sunday) performance, this is a great adventure for the entire family.
