Portland Summer Camps Guide 2016, Summer Camps in Portland

Believe it or not, it’s time to start thinking about summer! We are excited to partner with fantastic summer camps in Portland and the surrounding area to provide you with the 2016 Portland Moms Blog Summer Camp Guide!

Below you will find details on a variety of Portland summer camps for every age, interest and schedule. Many area camps fill up quickly, so don’t miss these opportunities to get your children registered for a summer full of fun!

{Organizations are listed as a paid advertising opportunity. If you are a camp or summer program director and wish to have your organization added to this guide, please let us know via our contact form.}

Steve & Kate’s Camp

Steve and Kates Camp LogoOur camp conforms to kids, not the other way around. Instead of a rigid structure, we give our campers choice. Instead of teaching kids the typical way, we give them tools and gentle guidance to help them become autodidacts, people who teach themselves. The difference is subtle–and it’s profound. There are a gazillion ways for kids to design a day at camp. One camper might dive into breadmaking and animation while another flies down a waterslide and scores a goal in our inflatable soccer stadium. It’s up to them.

We don’t expect you to know when or what time you can get your troops to camp. That’s why our policy is as flexible as you need it to be. You can buy a whole summer membership or you can purchase as many day passes as you want and use them whenever. Didn’t use them? No sweat. We’ll give you a full refund for unused passes. And best of all, you don’t even have to tell us when you’re coming. Ta-da. Camp just got easier.

Grades Pre-K through 7th. 40+ locations. Founded in 1980.

 Math Gamers

Math GamersImagine a game of hopscotch helping your kids with place value, or a bean bag game that helps students practice adding or multiplying multi-digit numbers. For students entering grades 1-6, that’s what we do during a summer session of Math Gamers “Active”©!

Math Gamers© is a fun, math enrichment program using original games (board, card, etc) to help kids “have fun with math!” In each class, students learn at least one new game, the goals of which are matched to the common cores. A special set of “active” games will keep kids moving in summer while they avoid the math summer brain drain

And, new this year for students entering grades 2-6, we have a separate, additional offering: a focused, fun week of measurement called “Measuring Baxter the Dog!”

Students also work on a “math art” project that applys geometry, symmetry, or sequencing to their own creations! All materials provided.
