Five Things I Love About Motherhood

0

We are living amidst the good ol’ days. My kids are growing up, and it is happening so fast. Here are five favorite ‘mommy moments’ I’m enjoying during this season of mommy life (while I apply eye cream and pour another cuppa). The exhaustion is real, but the love is even stronger. And deeper. Is it weird the things I love are also the things that drive me crazy at times? Being a mommy is weird, yo.

1. The Cuddles

The door knob jiggles and my bedroom door creeks open. The pitter patter of little feet run around my bed, and I’m greeted by tiny hands lifting the covers and my little loves melting into me. Those minutes before my alarm goes off are near perfection.

2. Singing in the Car

Kidz Bop never sounded so precious. I love hearing their little voices. I love the intensity in which they sing. I love that Kidz Bop changes Bruno Mars lyrics to more kid-friendly things like “strawberry milkshakes on ice.” But the best part may be the lyrics my kids get wrong, such as “24 karat magic” becomes instead “24 magic carrots.” The. Best.

3. The Milestones

If the first day of school makes you weepy, you’re not alone. There’s something about my twin boys in their new school clothes and new backpacks, jumping out of the van and walking into first grade this year looking like old pros that gave me all the feels.

4. Dinner Table Convos

The antics at our table are colorful, to say the least. Between my kids’ affinity for potty humor and my often swing-and-a-miss cooking, there are also many sweet moments. I love when they talk about their days, what they want to be when they grow up, and the new Legos they want. These mommy moments when they tell me their successes and struggles are priceless.

5. The Fingers Under the Door

We’ve all been there. You’re taking your leave in the restroom when movement catches the corner of your eye. You glance down to see that all too familiar sight: tiny fingers coming through the crack under the door. One of my kids likes to wiggle his fingers and move his hand side to side. These mommy moments are hilarious and I can’t help but laugh, which is why he continues to do it. And the day he’s too old to do it will arrive all too soon.

I’m going to miss all of these things someday.

What about you? What are some of your favorite mommy moments?
